Today, I discovered how pathetically introverted I am when during a car ride with my family, I said, "I really like this song" and my parents gasped because they didn't realize I was in the back seat. And I'm their only child. FML

That happened to me once. I was sitting in the back seat waiting for everybody, and it turned out they took the other car and didn't notice.

Introverted == shy. Shy is not wanting to, or feeling ashamed or nervous to talk to someone. Introverts can be shy, but all introverted means is they don't like a lot of stimulation. Whether it be from noise or social activities.

An introverted person prefers being alone to being with others. They often feel uncomfortable on large groups. While extroverts strive in large groups or with attention on them, introverts are more introspective and therefore quieter. Introverts don't do well presenting for groups, or working in large groups. Many are also shy.

Recognizing it is the first step, Op. If that's something you want to change about yourself, time to put yourself social activities. Sign up at a gym with a coach, or enroll in dance, martial arts, heck even a chess or art club! Easy to say, just increase your social activities, harder to do, and ultimately, worth it in the end. Find something you enjoy, do it, and you'll have something to share socially with like minded people. :) Cheers!
