Today, I discovered how pathetically introverted I am when during a car ride with my family, I said, "I really like this song" and my parents gasped because they didn't realize I was in the back seat. And I'm their only child. FML

Ninja in training...well done.

*gasp* I didn't know you were on FML! It's ok like to sleep if I'm not driving.

They probably gasped because the song was shitty and they were disappointed in your poor taste in music.

You know, sometimes parents just forget that you're in the car if they're talking, it's happened to me and other people I know. If that's the only incident that "proved" something to you then it might not be so bad, haha. However, if it's something that bothers you, you can try doing something at school or in the community where you can talk to others and come out of your shell a little. (:

Noor is this your fml? Or is op a ninja in training and is your student?

My mom would do something like this to me. My dad has been dead since March, but he would gave never done this. :(

As a fellow introvert, this made me giggle :P Has never happened to me, but I would actually find it hilarious, and always use it to my advantage ;D

I'm also an introverted only child but as an only kid, wouldn't you feel closer to your parents? I mean I seem like a regular extrovert and speak my mind whenever I'm with my parents.

Hey, OP, you posted an FML and it was accepted! Way to go, fellow introvert. No "pathetic" in that. There's nothing like a sense of humor about yourself to draw you out.

This reminds me of the old joke: A 10-year-old kid has never spoken a word. His parents took him to all the doctors and they could not find anything wrong. One day, at the dinner table, he suddenly said, "Soup's cold." His stunned parents said in unison, "What?!?!" The kid said, "Soup's cold." His mom said, "We are thrilled you can talk, but why haven't you ever said anything before?" The kid said, "Well, up until now, everything's been fine."

They're probably just getting old. I hear memory capacity flies out the window. Then again, I myself am such a quiet person that I think I randomly turn invisible... in the Frodo-wearing-the-ring-of-Sauron sense. Along with that, I seem to leave my conversation partner's short-term memory altogether, as he or she turns away mid-sentence and drifts off.

I think you have what it takes to be a ninja.
