Today, I discovered my step mom had thrown out my baby blanket because it was an "eyesore". It was an heirloom from my birth mother and the only thing I have left from her. FML

Today, while sorting through my clothes, I found one of my ex's old sweaters. After a lot of thought and difficulty, I threw it out. I felt empowered, until my father later rifled through my trash and claimed the sweater for himself. FML

Today, my idiot stepdaughter wadded up my dead grandma’s quilt instead of folding it neatly after using it. When I asked how she would feel if I wadded up her dead mom’s blanket, she replied that she wouldn’t care, at all. She then had the audacity to ask me to explain what she did wrong. FML

Today, I picked up my daughter from preschool. Her teacher handed me her nap blankets and mentioned there was an extra article of clothing I might want to take home. I looked in-between the blankets and saw a pair of my giant granny panties that had gotten mixed in with her stuff. FML

Today, my mom disowned me and forced me to move out because I didn’t have a crying heartbroken meltdown at the death of my stepfather. She knows I hated the man's guts since the first time he slapped her, so my not caring about his death shouldn't have surprised her. FML

That is so sad! Your step-mother should have told you that she was going to get rid of it before she just threw it away. That way you could have had a chance to hold on to it, even if you had to put it in your closet or somewhere. Your step-mom is a bitch for not understanding why you would hold such fond memories and feelings with that blanket, and I am sure your relationship with her will never quite be the same. So sorry, OP. FYL!

That's terrible! Looks like most of the comments I read thought so too. No one has any business going through people's stuff and throwing it away. I could sort of see it if your room were a wreck, but I would have been going through and looking for things that used to hold food or could spread germs. Any scraps of paper with writing on it would go in a container (to keep it together) and any drity lanudry would have been washed. Hell, worst I do is that and anything that used to be on the floor would be on the bed I just re-made for you. I'd wash out drawers and neatly stack things that were in them back in them. I'd take stuff off shelves, clean the shelves, dust the shit that was on them and stack them neatly if they were helter/skelter. Throwing shit away that isn't hazardous? Hell no. If garbage day hadn't come yet, you should tell her it was important to you and why and make her go through the trash for you and clean it up. How awful!
