Personally, joining the Navy was the best thing for me. I left for bootcamp 1 month after highschool and after bootcamp and all my schooling, I'm now in Japan. At 18. Far from a FML.
that sounds like a typical boy scout leader to me but you did not hear that from me
I'm not really sure how this is an FML, or a YDI. It's... just kind of funny?
That'll teach you to let other people make major life decisions for ya.
To number 86. Acctually if you enlist right now it is a year long wait because no one wants to leave the Navy so there isn't any room. I didn't say I had to wait a year I am leaving in October and enlisted back in January. I also already knew the Navy was on a downsize. To number 89. What I meant my college doesn't do squat except give you an education was that it doesn't guerentee you a job like a lot of people think. You could sit there and get a college degree and end up working at walmart the rest of your life.
Uhh you'd think he'd ask what made him enlist BEFORE he enlisted...dumb ****

You're old enough to join the navy and still in the boy scouts?
@ 1: Maybe he enlisted as a result of his former Boy Scout leader, but yes you can still be in scouts at age 18. OP: If he's a real inspiration and encouraged you to enlist, how did you not discuss his motivation to join until now?
