Today, I went out to meet a wonderful woman I'd chatted with online. I did have a few fears about if she was really just some guy trying to make a fool out of me. When I met her, she really was a girl, and was happy to see me. Problem: she was actually 13. I'm 34. FML

Today, I met and asked a cute girl out on a date. We decided to meet at a fancy restaurant downtown. When I got there I saw her sitting with what turned out to be her parents. They made a huge scene, calling me a pedophile and a low-life. Apparently, the girl was 16 years-old. I'm 25. FML

don't worry about it my roommates make fun of me all the time cause i was dating a girl who was 17 and i was 19, just cause i was in university and she was in high school. it didn't matter to me though because i really liked her, plus in canada the age of consent is 14

Even when this FML and comment were published (2009), the age of consent wasn't 14 in Canada anymore. It was switched to 16 in the beginning of 2008.

#1, that's truly beautiful. I love it. OP- Try chatting via webcams. See for yourself. You'll probably be able to tell the difference between 11 and 16. I met my boyfriend online. People all said he was some 42 year old fat Belgian pedophile. But he's totally not (met in person a few times now :P). Be legal.
