Today, I filed my taxes. As a divorcée with children, I was supposed to get $3,500 back from the IRS. Alas, my ex's new wife already filed with my children, who don't live with her. I now owe the IRS $250. FML

Today, I finally was able to complete my taxes and I had a look at the IRS website to check my refund. They changed it from 1K to $10. FML

Today, I found out that they won't hold my stimulus for child support, only to find out that they withheld it to give it to me when I file my taxes. Which child support will take. FML

OP - file your taxes with the kids, when u get the letter from the IRS show them the docs from the divorce decree giving u custody & the IRS will reverse their refund & audit them.

that happened to me too $ 800 I asked her to help me pay it and got NO for and answer I claimed the kids anyway so I would not owe several years later still no problems
