#93- the standards for pet stores and breeders are very, very low. You can find very healthy purebred dogs in shelters. My shelter dogs and cats have had way less health problems than the purebred animals from breeders that my friends have.
I blame the fence
1. Why would you spend that much money on a dog when there are all sorts of dogs dying in shelters? 2. WHY would you leave your dog in the backyard?????? Do your research. I'm sorry about your dog, but goodness.
You're insane for paying $1400 for a dog. There are goddamn rescue organizations which will give away GRs to good homes, never mind all the wonderful mutts out there every day. A dog is a companion, not an accessory. YDI.
@6 And now this poor (probably purebred) dog is also dying in the street. YDI for so many reasons.
@93 "4. Why adopt? Most dogs from shelters have diseases, and there are at least 12 viruses that transfer from dogs to humans. Updating a shelter dog on all the needed boosters and other medications can be VERY pricey..." The shelter dogs have curable diseases, even if you have to spend money on medication it's cheaper than a purebred dog because this ones have high incidence of genetic incurable diseases. But forget about the money, think: you're saving a life. Why buy when you have for free? Most shelters have vaccination plans. Most breeders are just greedy and mate dogs incestuously. How can this be healthy? Would you commit incest to have healthy and beautiful children? They treat dogs like meat, only have them to sell and make profit. They don't care. A lot of purebred dogs have chronic diseases that need daily medication, now that's VERY pricy.
Initially, I felt bad. Then I realized you not only had 1400 dollars to waste on a dog, something you can get for FREE, but you also opted to buy a well-raised purebreed who would have a nice life no matter what instead of adopting a dog who actually NEEDS an owner and doesnt exist solely because someone wanted something to profit off of. Maybe some lucky guy who actually gives a **** about his pet will go and adopt one who needs a home and pick up your stupid golden retriever.
I don't think I've ever known anybody who paid for a dog. and Everyone I know has a dog.

Why didn't you tie it up? If it was a new pet, you don't know how it's going to react. YDI for not making sure it was secure!
dont have kids, please you cant even take care of a dog...
