Today, I finally decided to get a dog. I have always been wanting to get one ever since I was a child. I bought a $1,400 Golden Retriever. I went out for lunch a few hours later with a friend, so I left my dog in the backyard. I came back home to a broken fence and no dog. FML

rofl, retard, Golden retriever for 1400 bucks. Go to the damn shelter and get one for 50$, already has shots and neutered. That and like others said leave it inside.

#17 how healthy was the golden retriever you got for $40????? HUH??? You probably will spend more than $1400 on medical bills!! And, OP, good job, i can see you really wanted that dog!! I'm sorry but that is why there are so many dogs on the streets with no homes. And unless you had a really bad temperament golden or didn't spend enough time checking it out for medical problems and temperament issues, then there is no reason it would have run away. Goldens are usually VERYY good dogs!

Today, I bought a dog and then immediately abandoned it to have lunch with a friend because I'm a selfish ass. The dog probably ran away to someone who has a soul. If you can't handle the responsibility of a pet...don't get one. It's not fair to the animal.

are you a ******* idiot. deciding to get a dog is one step in the process. actually knowing how to care for it is another and you obviously didn't know how to care for it, since you left it outside while you weren't at the house. in some states (like mine) you could go to jail for neglect of your animal, which you should, you retard.

There isn't anything wrong with leaving dogs outside. However~ you still deserve it, for spending $1400 on a dog and for not getting your dog microchipped. Should have gone to the pound.

There isn't much wrong with leaving a dog outside (although it being a NEW dog, you should have kept an eye on it to see if it would try to run away or not) - but you still deserve it for dropping that much money on a dog and not getting it microchipped. You really should have gone to an animal rescue, to adopt a dog.
