Today, I finally decided to get a dog. I have always been wanting to get one ever since I was a child. I bought a $1,400 Golden Retriever. I went out for lunch a few hours later with a friend, so I left my dog in the backyard. I came back home to a broken fence and no dog. FML

Why didn't you tie it up? If it was a new pet, you don't know how it's going to react. YDI for not making sure it was secure!

dont have kids, please you cant even take care of a dog...

You buy a dog and then just ditch it, but don't tie it up? Way to be. YDI. I hope the dog is okay somewhere.

YDI for: #1... Getting a puppy from a breeder and not a shelter #2... Leaving your brand new puppy, who you JUST got today, home alone for hours #3... Leaving a dog in a backyard for hours. BRING HIM IN THE HOUSE!!!!! wtf is wrong with you??? Are you ******* kidding??? Any responsible breeder would have made sure you were a RESPONSIBLE pet owner!

You know you can get those for like $100 at a rescue or the pound? Keep looking, though. My roommates dog got out for 11 days in a strange town and we found him this morning.

ok first of all, this totally sucks and I feel for you.... I would be devastated if my dog got stolen... buuuut.... what were you thinking leaving a puppy (or any dog really) outside for hours when you weren't home?! Seriously.

Who pays $1400 for a dog? Next time go to the humane society and get one for free. Plus you're probably saving the dog's life.

YDI, animals should not be bought and sold as commodities.

I KINDA feel for you, but not really. If you just got your puppy, it's not even going to have all of the shots it needs that means it can BE outside... plus, rather than take the time to bond properly with it, you abandoned it outside in unfamiliar territory for lunch. You aren't responsible enough to have another life depend of you.
