Today, I finally finished my art project, which was worth 50% of my quarterly grade. I came in first period to give it to my professor. When she turned to look at it, her elbow hit her coffee and spilled it all over the canvas. I got 60%. She said I would have had a 100%, except for the giant coffee stain. FML

That sucks. Complain to the Head of Department or the Principal. My experience wasn't this bad, but I was doing an assignment once and our teacher was a total draft-nazi, we always had to hand in drafts. So I decided to actually hand in several drafts for this particular assignment, she would do corrections each time and I'd fix it up and hand the draft back in. Anyway eventually she said she didn't think it could be improved any more. So I handed that final copy in as my assignment. I only got a B. WTF?

those who are making fun of art teachers: they aren't dumb. art is their passion. OP just happens to have a rude one. art CAN get you MANY places in life, too.

you should still have gotten a 100 seeing as you brought it to her in GOOD shape and she shouldn't ******* deduct marks from you cause of something that's her fault. bitch

You should report her or something. It's HER fault your project is ruined.

Tell that dumb f*ck that you want your 100%, complain to your principal, have your parents call the school, complain to counsellors or something. As a fellow painter I would have gone batshit if an actual professor ruined my work, and then told me "you would have had 100% if there wasn't this huge stain((i hadn't ruined your painting))". Don't just ignore this kind of thing, or people will shit on you your whole life.

I can vouch art teachers SUCK. I like and "specialize" (that word implies I'm great at it, but I've still a ways to go) in cartooning, but I also am interestined in playing with watercolours, scratchboard, clay... My first art teacher told me cartooning was "immature," "a waste of time," and "not going to get me anywhere" (note that this is a HIGH SCHOOL art class...) Next year I hear that she's teaching animu at the junior high. She also put one of my pieces into an art show (without asking, mind you) that lasted two years and stained the picture (she stained it, not them). It's one of my most hated pieces and probably one I've worked the least on, but she thought it was "deep and meaningful" (In case anyone wonders... http://damegreywulf.deviantart.com/art/Vegetative-State-44858617 - that's it, and you can all clearly see the flaws in it) The NEXT teacher they had I decided to give a try. Remember those things I mentioned above? She asked what I liked and I told her those things, and asked if we'd do any. "Oh, yeah, if this were a kindergarten class." Everyone laughed at me. :I Art teachers tend to be pretentious assholes from my experience, and from the experience I've heard from others. Suits me just fine, I was never planning to major in it anyway. I'd rather not kill my like to draw, and really I just want to stick to what I want rather than be constantly told what to do. May be pretty stubborn and narrow-minded of me, but since I'm not making a career out of it, it doesn't matter. As for you, OP, one word: Bitch. Do not take that shit sitting down.

I did look at your deviant art site, and I'm sorry to say that maybe you didn't get along with your art teachers because you didn't work at the level they felt you should? idk, just a thought. I know a lot of my teachers had high expectations of particular students and they would be harder on them because of that. All in all though I think this post is either a fake or a stupid kid twisting what their teacher said around. She probably told the OP that with the coffee stain it was worth 100% because it improved the art. I am voting against you, art teachers ROCK!

Oh of course I'm not at a level I think I should be at considering my age, but that wasn't the point of their remarks. In fact, they hadn't even seen my work when they said those things to me. And drawing Japanese cartooning, anime, requires no skill level, even for someone in junior high, so that particular bit pissed me off. And you would be surprised at some of the bs that teachers like to pull. They're no different than bosses in that aspect.

How the hell did this get moderated? It's such bullshit.

I'm really finding myself wondering why the presumptive teacher is never actually referred to as such...just "she" and "her"
