Today, I finally got enough courage to ask out this girl that I've liked for a year. While we were out at lunch, she ran into her ex that she had just broken up with. They then had a long conversation about their relationship, and ended up getting back together. She was my ride home. FML

#110 good job with the questions, it really depends on the situation whether the girl sees it only as a 'friendly'... hangout (not friendly date :p ), or a date, anyway, 110`s right, please contemplate on those questions.. and yeah, that must really suck.. i can`t imaging how awkward you must have felt during that time best of luck to you mate

Yeah, I'm going through something vaugely similar myself. I liked this girl since I met her which was about 4 years ago and the first two years, I was honestly just too shy to do anything about it. The third year she was dating this complete jerk and the forth year I heard they had broken up, so I told her how I felt and asked her out on a date because I would have loved to prove to her that she was better off without that guy and I'd do whatever I could to make her happy. What I hadn't heard was that they had gotten back together the very day I asked her out. F Our Lives

Had the same thing when I was young(er), took this girl out to a club where she met her ex ... the three of us drove to her home afterwards, just because I promised her mom I'd take her home safely. It was kinda akward. Chin up dude, someone better will come along.
