Today, I finished booking the non-refundable cruise for my wife and I to the Bahamas. I did this after confirming once again that my mother could take care of our son while we're away. An hour after I paid, she called back saying she mistook the dates and can't do it anymore. FML

Take the kid with you and make his childhood great. When I was 8 my parents left me with my grandma to go on a cruise and at that age I felt left out and secluded.

The problem is that you don't know how young the child is. If the child is a toddler, I can see why taking him on the cruise might be a bad idea.

I know it's not ideal and you probably want alone time with your spouse but I've taken our young children on a cruise to the Bahamas before. Cruises have so many activities for the kiddies and the absolute best certified care givers "around the clock". (Most of it free) I was highly impressed with security and I'm paranoid. Better than losing your money if you can't find another sitter.

Don't let that ruin your time. Try to find a friend or relative. If not I do believe there are day cares that will watch your kid. There are always options...don't get down about it. And if worse comes to worse, just try to take him with you. :/ Sorry. If we were friends and I knew you Id try to help out by watching.him

Take him there's free daycare all day then like 6 an hr after 12am, he doesn't even have to get off the ship for the excursion he can stay in daycare

Call the company, they will probably be willing to work with you on changing your cruise dates.... or adding another person. ^.^

Let your mom go to the Bahamas with your wife. The father-son bonding time will be so worth it. Teach him how to drink beer and then pee while walking.
