Today, I finished my internship working in a government lab. I got paid $4000 for the summer. I was talking to my cousin, who said that when he worked as a carnie last summer he made $8000. I get paid half as much for doing research as a carnie does for serving people sno-cones. FML

1) Government labs are generally useless. 2) You got paid $4000 dollars to do something generally useless. 3) I paid about 4 grand in taxes last year so that was me paying you to do something generally useless. 4) So **** you, get a real job where you actually produce something and don't cost me money for something I don't want. 5) I'd rather pay $8,000 for a snow cone then a dollar for something produced by a government lab In conclusion stop wasting my tax money in worthless government labs.

I work for the government as well. Government employees make a good amount less than those doing the same work in the private sector. We have no say in how congress chooses to spend the tax dollars, but we do have the right to get paid for the work we do. Please don't hate on the civilian employees who work hard for their wages.

Please, I'm an education major and you know what we get from our internship? - 3000$. Yup. We PAY to apply, work for 4 months (again without pay), and we get to pay for all the supplies. And whereas you're gonna get big money just to experiment, I'll get barely 30000$ to change kids' lives every day. But, that's life.
