Today, I flew home from college to see my parents. Later I found the expensive painting and hand-made necklace I mailed to my mom for mother's day while taking out the trash. FML

cossackkid01, you have some major issues. I am sure there are mothers who are in competition with their daughters but DO NOT clump all women into a group just because of them. That is completely ignorant on your part. My mom is one of my best friends thank you very much! I also have a daughter and I can't imagine doing what the OP's mom did. I hope you never have kids, assuming you can even find a girl stupid enough to want to be with you! To the OP, that is horrible. You should confront your mom about it.

Maybe you have shitty taste in art and jewelry! Just because one thing is "expensive" and the other "hand-made" doesn't mean they are not ugly crap. Just give mom CASH! That goes with everything. With you, I wouldn't even risk a gift card. . . with your lousy taste, you'd probably get her a gift card from a store that sells only overpriced shit.

Um...cossackkid...while I have to admit your comments were funny but I feel some points a little un true. My mother has always been supportive of me. Talks about me to coworkers(positive stuff) Most of friends have equally amazing relationships with their mothers. Maybe the women you have known had bat shit crazy mother/daughter relationships...but that doesn't mean all do. Also I don't think ur an asshole based on your comments. Your honesty is commendable...just want you to see that not all humans with a vag are as nuts as the ones you have encountered.

maybe you should have given her a hand made painting and an expensive necklace instead of the other way around. The result would have probably been different because almost all women love jewelery, whereas the audience for expensive paintings is selective.
