Someone else paying for their college ed wasn't even an option for 90% of the people I know. Get a loan, get a job, pay for it yourself.

okay so i do feel bad for the horse HOWEVER... education is very important and those that are saying you need to become independant and get a student lone obviously are not putting themselves in their shoes... i am just finishing my schooling and i was lucky enough to not have to get a student loan.. however i have friends that did have to get one and are $30 000.00 in debt... if you had the option to get help from your parents, and now you don't have that option anymore then i do feel for you.. i wish you the best and i hope it all works out

That sucks if your parents paid for another child's college first... but otherwise, quit your whining and pay your way through college if that's what you want. We can't all have our educations paid for by mommy and daddy.

You idiots! Not everyone is eligible for a federal loan. Grants, scholarships, and financial aid don't cover all of tuition and no one will give an 18 year old a loan without a cosigner. I know how you feel! My spoiled little sister wants to go to a private high school...For the same price that it'd take me to get my masters degree in International Business in London. No one will cosign a loan with me because of her.

woooow. you people who are saying kill the horse have obviously never even seen a horse up close. I'd kill to have a horse, because then I could go do shows and earn money and stuff. OP, get a job. that surgery would only cost like 10,000, right? you need to not rely on your parents for everything. my parents aren't even paying for my college, and I'm being forced to get a masters degree. get a job and earn it.

Even so, if it was money given to *you* for *your college*, and then it turns into *your sister* needs this. Why doesn't the sister get a job, and get the horse the surgery money? Are you an only child? Have you never felt some resentment for having your assets passed off to a sister or brother who is COMPLETELY CAPABLE of providing for themselves, too? I'd normal agree with get a job and get 'er done, but working *needlessly* isn't working *effectively*.
