Today, I found out my dad has a 1-in-a-million disease that makes your liver process pain medication at twice the rate of a normal person. If that wasn't bad enough, he also tells me he hopes I don't have it too, because it can be passed down. He said this because I'm 29 weeks pregnant. FML

Through out my pregrenancy i said i was goin natural but i couldnt bare the pain an got one right in time. Fyl if u have that disease

Holy hell, she'll be ****** if she has it and has to have a c-section. FYL indeed OP.

Not all pain medications are processed the same way, so I wonder if OP's dad processes only certain common ones faster...unless he has every cytochrome elevated in which case he has bigger problems than just pain meds...& even if OP has the condition it can be overcome by upping the dose or giving the meds with an enzyme inhibitor.

y worry. what will b, will b.

if it makes your liver process it at 2x the rate, wouldn't that make it better because then it will get into your body faster?

you probably don't, it's 1 in a million, not that big of a deal

so take double the dose of pain medication. problem solved.

polymorphic drug metabolism isn't that big of a deal. you just need higher doses of the drug or you have to take it more frequently.
