FYL OP but still, why the **** is everyone into HD lately? We didn't complain about that shit in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's! Why would we care to buy all that HD bullfuck if you can already see it comfortably in your house?!
Modern day Gift of the Magi.
Um... I have a damn nice flatscreen and I don't get cable... YDI for not thinking outside the box! Does she have a 30 dollar DVD player? 10 dollar a month subscription to Netflix? Or like, 40 dollar antenna to get HD broadcast? This really isn't so much of an issue. If she has none of these, I see the potential for a very inexpensive addition to your expensive gift...
buy **** dvds and it was worth it ..
take the damn thing back
What a cheap plasma. I bet it's tiny.
A decent 700$ TV is about 40".

Too bad you can only watch cable TV on a $700 plasma screen TV. Wouldn't it be great if you could use some form of external device, like a DVD or Blu-ray player, to watch movies on it? It would also be nice if you could subscribe to some form of service, like Netflix, that delivered those movies to your house. Alas, you definitely can't do any of that with a $700 plasma screen TV. Just go ahead and return it; it's completely useless now.
Yeah right you guys just wanted to justify buying it for yourselves.
