This will prob get all the negative votes but that's how it's been for a long long time. It's going to take a lot longer before it changes. It sucks a lot but if it bothers you so much do something about it. I would try to sue.

Sue them. It's blatant sex discrimination under the Equality Act. You are pretty much guaranteed to win; it's an absolute ban on paying different rates to men and women for doing the same work, work that is similar or work of same type. Seriously, go see a solicitor!
