See if you can get a first responder to testify on your behalf. It is entirely possible to break someone’s ribs while delivering CPR. They taught us that when we learned CPR in our first aid course for work. I’m glad you were on hand to save someone’s life. His ingratitude is staggering.
That's why when I give CPR I just kick them in the chest repeatedly and then run away.
Well considering that right in CPR training they tell you that you'll probably break some ribs, you'll be fine.
Wait WHAT? I did first aid and several EMTs at the red cross said they broke ribs while saving people’s lives! Doesn’t your country/state have good samaritan laws? I mean between him dying and broken ribs there really is no comparison! that’s just plain ungrateful! This thing about Suing people left right and center is beyond me.
Good Samaritan laws protect you from this sort of thing. As long as you didn’t do more than your scope of training as a citizen then they cannot win a lawsuit.
Finish the job.
If your state has a 'Good Samaritan' law you should be protected. I've had CPR training and the risk of broken ribs is something we were taught. Broken ribs suck, by it's better than dying. I hope the judge throws out the case and awards you the $10,000.
I'll take a broken rib over me dying any day. If you actually do go to court just tell the judge "I'm sorry sir next time I'm in that situation I'll just let him/her die"

Welcome to the United States of America, the place where s robber can sue you because they injured themself robbing your house, and people sue you for saving their lives. Land of the free to have ****** up logic.
That's why you need to make sure your state has something along the lines of a Good Samaritan laws, in which you are protected from being sued if something like cracked or broken ribs happens. Honestly, any judge or jury that is a sane person just rule in your favor. That is one reason I am thinking of leaving human services (have a psychology degree and work with people all the time so I need CPR and first aid training) because people are too sue happy. If my training is out of date, can't be required to do anything. Let someone else do it. Would do it if a family member or friend.
