Today, I found out that I was not adopted and in fact my parents are my biological parents. How did I find out? Over dinner. How long have I been believing I was adopted? 22 years. Why did I start believing I was adopted? My siblings thought it would be a funny joke. My mom played along. FML

Today, I found out that I was adopted. I'm 46 years old with 11 real siblings and no one bothered to tell me until I found the documents in my dead adoptive father's house. FML

Today, I discovered that I'm adopted. How? After a great lunch, I asked my uncle how he'd made the salad dressing. He replied, "Haha! It's a secret family recipe, my dear!" I wouldn't have thought twice about it, were it not for my parents' shocked expressions, and the long, awkward silence. FML

Today, I found out the truth about my and my siblings adoptions and why I have no contact with any extended family. Turns out our parents are half-siblings, who decided to adopt rather than risk any genetic anomalies. Their families didn’t approve of the relationship so they moved us far away. FML

Today, my mom dropped me off at a friend's house. Upon leaving, my friend's mom said how much I looked like my mother. My mother then replied, "That's funny, she was adopted." This was the first I'd heard of this. FML

Oh please, relax. Almost very older sibling tells their younger siblings that they were adopted at least ONCE while growing up. The mom probably just jokingly went along with it one night and then it was never really brought up again by the mom, yet siblings constantly joked about it. They're not assholes, they're just doing what every sibling does.

In your position, I'd wish I'd been adopted. Sorry, that's awful and no, I do think they're assholes. At some point early in this very questionable game, your mom should have said to herself, "Better find out how far this really went," and checked in with you about your beliefs. I hope you have other significant relationships and friendships outside this family. I also hope to goodness you weren't the family scapegoat like I was. Sounds like this could be your situation.

I would sue your parents/siblings for damages. Get the press involved. You won't get dime one if you win (assuming the award is very large) but at least you can humiliate them. I thought my family were a bunch of rude pricks, but your family takes the prize.
