Today, I got a computer. When I opened it, I found out that my dad had made himself the administrator. He made it so everything shut off after 11 o'clock, and made it so I couldn't download anything without his password. FML

Today, my dad was sat on my laptop in the living room trying to learn how to do some rewiring around the house when he, and I quote, ”clicked on the thing.” My laptop is now riddled with so many viruses it’s basically a house brick. FML

Today, I found my brother tampering with my laptop. He had changed the entire settings, in ways I don't even know how to fix. I finally had to get my mom to threaten him to change it back to its original setting. I'm 15. He's six and can barely get dressed by himself. FML

Today, I borrowed my dad's laptop to type an essay. While I was saving it, I noticed some curious looking files and I opened them. They were rejection letters from all the colleges I had applied to. My dad had been forging them so he wouldn't have to pay for my tuition bills. FML

Today, our work computers are down so I've been trying to fix it via my home computer for 3 days. My 12-year-old son took one look at the screen, changed 2 settings on a drop down menu, and the problem was fixed. My 12-year-old is better at my job than I am. FML

Today, I let my mother use my computer for school work. Later that day my mom asks me what's wrong with the computer. I look at it, only seeing a "Welcome to Windows XP" screen. She said that she saw a blue screen and pressed L and C when it asked her to. My mom managed to clear my hard drive. FML

Ouch, that sucks. Judging by the name, I'd say that's completely ridiculous. Although, if it's on windows and you can manage to download this: http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ You can reset or remove his password. It's very handy, I'd keep it on a disk lying around just in case.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB! MY dad has it so that my internet turns on at 10AM and turns off at 10PM I thought it was okay during school days so I wont stay up att night on the computer BUT its summer and he still hasnt changed it back

My dad tried that with my laptop once. Then I hacked into our Wifi router using my phone and for some reason noone exept me could acess the internet anymore. Until he removed his user from my laptop (that I bought using MY money) that is.then it suddenly worked again...

Right? Even though I disagree with it, I can understand the needing his permission to download stuff. That could save some potential virus' but the whole shutting down at 11, that's over the top and unnecessary.

Giving it back to him is almost stuck up. At least appreciate the gift and as so many others have stated, it's easy to reprogram it and delete the passwords and the shutting down at 11...

It's quite easy to hack around these things. Just search the internet. But FYL for having to deal with this at all.. especially if it's Your computer.
