That's when I pack my stuff up and head for the door and when my boss asks what the hell I'm doing I'd go "I'm sorry, but I thought you said I was fired." :)
Uh, no. He is a business professional. If you can't leave his baggage at home, you stay home. I understand that this is a difficult time for him, but this is not appropriate behavior.
He should have just stayed home.
Shouldn't have made that typo then, should you
I think there are certain times in life you need to take a step back and write off someone's behaviour. Just let it go, it doesn't sound like this is your boss's usual behaviour so don't give him any aggro, just give him space.
geef hem een biertje en zet het dumpert anthem aan, en hij zal 100% opvrolijken!
Pyramid of Screams. Now you get to go home and yell at your cat. That's life.

All you can do is grimace and bear it, it's an emotionally charged time for your boss, and he's bound to settle down eventually. Express your sympathies and try to move past it I guess
He needs a healthier way to vent. A death in a family can always be a horrible thing to go through but regardless, he shouldn't take it out on you or other employees.
