Try and find out who she gave it to and see if you can borrow it back to transfer all your stuff! Hopefully she gave it to someone you know not just to charity.
Yikes, this is why I use an external hard drive for my important files. Also protects from losing the files if my laptop dies...

I had mine for 5 years and I'm looking to get a new one too. I was planning to sell my old one. I wouldn't have minded if my mom did that, since I do have the important stuff saved on flash drives but I'm sorry that happened to you, OP. :(
