I had a similar problem when upgrading my pc. I had taken out the hard drive for some maintenance, and before I could transfer all my files to the new, state of the art, ssd, my gf grabbed it, cleared it, and sold it on eBay for $200. I never cloud backup because I was pretty sure that this would never happen. There goes over half a decade of my shit
I have made it very clear within my home that I don't like people touching my things for this reason. People don't do anything with my computer, not even touching it unless I am right there.
That's why you keep a backup hard drive. But fyl. She should've asked before touching your stuff.
