Today, I got a ticket for having my brights on. The street was pitch black and it was 1:30 in the morning. FML

yeah, it turns out that even if it's dark out, you're still supposed to turn off your brights when you meet another car. driver's ed drop out? this is probably the same person that drives in the rain with no headlights on and wipers going mach 10. "Why do I need to turn on my lights? I can see where I'm going." YDI

no, you should actually never use brights in fog...

You're a ******* schizophrenic moron, aren't you? Seek help. I mentioned my Youtube video on FML for anyone who is interested to see. That doesn't mean I sent it to you. I hope a bear eats your testicles. Oh, sorry, your ********.

Some neighborhoods have legal agreements to keep the street dark at night, to fit the convenience of the residents. These include cars, it's unlawful to have your brights on when you're passing through a residential neighborhood with a policy like that.

well if the op means high beams then yes you can. you can't leave you high beams on within 300 feet (not sure if that's the right distant i heard 500 ft somewhere too) of another car b/c it can hinder the car in front of them vision b/c it can reflect back at them in the rear view mirror or cars driving on the other side. cops generally don't give you tickets for it but they can if they feel like you are abusing it and endangering other driver.

ESPECIALLY if you blind the cop as you drive by. :)

The OP did not give much detail. Was there another car around? Was it in a well lit area where high beams were unnecessary? I highly doubt the OP would have got a ticket if they were not doing anything wrong.
