The Fourth Reich will be financed with nickel-and-dime annoyance fees. Checked bag fees were essentially Kristalnacht.

I highly doubt the rule was your idea. You're just employed there. Boo to mean customers, and hopefully the rest of the shoppers will be more understanding. Good luck, OP!

Take it as a compliment. Regardless of what they did, those guys know how to dress.

Oh lordy, what are we going to do with no plastic bags?! What? Use wool or leather bags like eco-friendly people?! Unacceptable!

Sorry, but I fail to see how leather is eco-friendly?

#4 Aren't we the optimist? You really think you're the only one who studied Latin?

Shoot! Just wait 'til tomorrow! That's when the fun starts! :P

"Fascists! All of you evil fascists!" "Sir, you could just use a re-usabl--" "Oh you crazy Nazis! Get away from me! I demand my paper bag back!" The manager would nazi that coming.

That sucks about no more free plastic bags at your store. I use the free grocery plastic bags to line my bathroom trash cans, keep one in the laundry room to put the dryer lint and used fabric softener sheets, pick up dog poops in my backyard, dump old food from my fridge when I am cleaning it out. They are handy.

My FML app doesn't show location so I can't be sure, but this may be one of the unfortunately common instances of fellow Americans with more money than sense traveling abroad and disgracing us. I went to Germany a couple years ago and the shops there charged for plastic bags. That may be an explanation for the connection.

Here in Belgium we used to have free plastic bags until about 5 years ago. No one really cared that we suddenly had to pay a few cents. :)

They used to charge you for plastic bags in Ireland, because of the amount of litter they produced. It was a nice little tactic they used to curb waste and pollution. I think they still do, but, to be honest, I don't pay close enough attention to notice since I usually just use my bag/purse. Anyway, it works, because people don't want to pay for something they think should be free, only to just end up throwing it away as soon as they get home.

Actually, the OP is from California according to this FML. I'm guessing maybe Orange County specifically because my city just had a law go into effect banning the use of plastic grocery bags in stores. Only reusable or paper bags from now on.

Yeah, here in Minnesota, they're trying to pass similar laws in which plastic bags would be an extra charge. I know some cities have laws that allow them to fine you for littering and waste that is collected come spring.

"Bag fees, bag fees über alles."
