YDI cos i don't like you
My bad I meant 1830!! Typing with a mild Migraine sucks LOL The bus starts 0530 and ends right after nightfall!! So I'm not judging the OP as I've been there with NO friends money etc Thats life!
At least now you will have the extra money to pay for it. Those expired tags would have cost you sooner or later anyway. You have to look on the bright side. :)
Fyl and ydi.
This happened to me before. After being pulled over twice for the same infraction (I was unable to renew the previous day because it was the weekend and the MVD was closed), I went in that Monday and got them renewed. Then, I took the proof to the county courthouse and got the ticket discharged, saving $80. I bet it's too late for that now, eh? FYL if it's too late; YDI if you have time but don't do this...
Apparently I hate the overuse of the word apparently on FML... How about Imagination for a change
Not sure what tag violations cost up there in Oregon, but if it takes a half a weeks worth of pay, then yeah, FYL indeed. Traffic fines should be scaled based on income, IMHO. Nevertheless, get your tags! In most states, the fine for not having them is MUCH worse than the fee for replacing them.
I don't what the fine is for getting pulled over with expired tags is in Oregon, but in Missouri it's only $15. I can't imagine it'd be much more than that anywhere else. Unless you're also including the cost of renewing your plates. Then it's not an FML at all, since you know, everyone has to pay it.

I'm not sure whether I should say FYL or YDI. On the one hand, I know what it means to have to drive on expired plates. My sister had to for awhile because she couldn't afford to get them renewed. (Deadbeat husband, two kids to take care of. The kids' expenses came first, and by the time she was done getting the things she needed for her boys, she didn't have the money to get her plates renewed.) On the other, the way this is written makes me lean toward you deserve it. How did you not know they were expired? I'm torn. I guess I say FYL AND YDI because it sucks that you're going to have to pay all that money, but it is kind of silly that you didn't realize they were expired.
