from my experience ( 8 years at a medium sized company ) it's likely that there were all sorts of office politics going on before you got there and you didn't get on the good side of one of the influential people, or your direct superior felt threatened by your competence and eliminated the threat.
You may have just not been up to their standards, OP. Sucks, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
If it was an at will company, they don't have to have a reason for give you an explanation for firing you. They could fire you for tracking mud into the work place after a rainy day and it would be perfectly legal. Sucks, but that's how it works in some places. Good luck on the job hunt
Do I smell a wrongful termination lawsuit???
The same thing just happened to me on Tuesday...
Those saying wrongful termination - Oklahoma is a right to work state, they don't need a reason.

It's not you, OP, it's them. I hope you and the company can remain friends at least. However, they didn't deserve you and were probably employing other people behind your back.
You're better off without them, OP
