Oh, big deal. You should be glad that your dad feels close enough to you to discuss something so private, not to mention celebrate it. There's this place I read about (I forget what) that when a girl gets her first period the family members lock her up in a room and she has to wear a special hat to hide her face for two years. Be happy that's not what your parents made you do. :S

when i got my period i was 13 and my dad decided to take me out to dinner, he also decide to order me some red wine. i was clearly 13, we got kicked out.
