Uh, no. Elevator mechanics can't do anything while they are stuck in an elevator. Maybe, he was working at a place where there are multiple elevators, and he used a working one and got stuck in it. It's not like he can do anything if he's stuck in an elevator on the way down.

Holy crap that musta've been scary. I have a phobia of elevators. Not claustrophobia or acrophobia, but i'm afraid of getting stuck or falling. I'd flip out.

its not scary, you are safer in the box than in a car. also next time you are in an elevator think of ways to get out. the escape hatch has wingnuts on top so no one can get out as well as 2 switches that break the safety circuit and stop the elevator upon opening. Most cabs are also 8 - 9 feet tall. pry the doors open to a 5" gap and try and squeeze through that. just pee in the elevator if you get stuck no one cares. you'll get out eventually. local 50 toronto on
