Huh? You two made the kid together. You're one of his two parents. Sans his father's involvements or responsibilities in the matter, it's also your responsibility to care for your child. There's no sense in whining about your responsibilities here. You made your own bed; you can lie in it.

Her responsibility to her child, in this particular situation, extends to going to the event herself. It's not her responsibility to make the father go. She is not her husbands keeper, and shouldn't have to be. He is the child's other parent and should take care of his responsibilities without her prodding him. It also should not be her responsibility to tell the child about his fathers absence. Small children have a tendency to blame the person who tells them any bad news, regardless of whose fault it is. She should not be put in a position where her son is angry at her because of something his father did. She isn't whining about her own responsibilities, but about having to take responsibility for someone else's action (or inaction in this case). That seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I play xbox on occasion and can't see how a person can play video games all day long. I have a 6yr old to care for, dinner needs to be made, dogs walked, horses fed, I work full time..etc If your husband is unemployed and spends all his time on that game, make his ass get a job to stay busy.
