i wouldn't say most overweight people have that disorder. sure, there's probably a few out there, but honestly, most don't. and really, you people don't need to be so rude about bigger people. does it make you feel better to come on to this site and be such little bitches on every fml about bigger people, gays, relgious people etc.?

I knew a nurse who once told me he saw maggots eating out of the sores under some dude's fat folds #131.... completely agree #134.... compulsive eating disorder are you serious? ... tell me this... how many people are documented with that illness in Africa? I'm pretty sure people in Somalia have some underlying problems. Most of the fat people are fat because they choose to eat a lot. I don't share your pity.

#138 - What the hell does Africa have to do with this? I wonder how many people in Africa are diagnosed with bulimia and anorexia, yet they're widely recognized as valid eating disorders. And don't you dare tell me that being starving and skinny means someone has anorexia, because that's NOT what it is. That's a piss poor argument. However, I do concede that a lot of people are overweight because they choose not to exercise and eat right, even though they could.

That's just sick. I wonder how people just let themselves go like that. @139 I think 138 was trying to make an argument that over-eating disorders do not occur in countries (and they picked the entire continent of Africa as an example) that do not have the plethora of food that exist in well-off countries... therefore over-eating is not a valid disorder, or at least, does not apply to the amount of obese people we have in America or where ever. I'm not sure I quite agree, but I see where s/he's coming from. I say most people are fat because they have no self control/they're lazy/they're depressed, and food is their outlet. My mother has a thyroid condition, so I know those sorts problems exist, but she's always tried to keep her weight in check, and she's always stayed out of the obesity range. So I don't buy most people saying "it's a medical problem!" either.

Sometimes obesity is due to a medical problem, and sometimes it's not. Some times a person can make a difference in their weight, and other times it's more difficult. You can't really make a blanket statement either way because everyone is different.
