Today, I had to spend all of my money on textbooks even though my refrigerator is empty. Starving and frustrated, I called home to ask for money for groceries. My mom told me I could afford to skip a few meals. FML

Your mom and dad brought you into this world. I don't understand the mentality that they don't owe you anything. Yes, you are sentient and capable of taking care of yourself most of the time, but everyone needs help now and again. You would not exist if not for your parents, which is a good thing when things are good in life, but ******* horrible when things go wrong. I've been homeless and starving and without hope. It's not something I'd wish on my worse enemy.

im going to school fulltime AND working fulltime and im still broke...then again i have bills to pay

If you live in dorms, YDI. There's no reason to be unable to afford everything while living in dorms, even if you don't have a job. If you live in an apartment, then that really does suck. MA is super freakin' expensive to live in. It's time to get a credit card. Do NOT overspend on it; just have it for emergencies (which are things like "I have no money and no food," not "I have no money and my friends are going to the bars tonight.") :-) It's also time to see if there is anything you can cut out of your life. Have cable? You don't need it (unless they're going to charge you a ridiculous contract ending fee). Have internet? Since you're in college, you really don't need that, either, if you're close to campus. Just sit on campus and use their internet...you're paying for that anyway. (If you're like me and an hour away from campus, then I get that that's not possible all the time.) Turn off the lights when you leave a room, don't run your AC or heat (if you pay for heat) when you're out of the house, etc. etc. Make some extra dough by selling stuff on eBay, getting a job with kgb.com (it's all on your schedule), and taking on an extra part time job. I'm really bad at managing school and work, but I still have three jobs while going to school full time. It sucks, but you do what you have to do. Your mom is under no obligation to help you, but she shouldn't have called you fat, either.

actually, its cheaper to live in an apartment than in the dorms. so that argument is invalid. gtfo

i feel bad that op doesn't have enough money, but it is their problem... And i hope op's mom realizes that the body eats muscle and not the body's fat, if she's implying that op is fat...
