Today, I had to watch my neighbor's daughter for 10 hours. She wouldn't eat anything I had to offer, so I ordered a pizza for $19 + a $5 tip = $24. Her father came by to pick her up, thanked me, and gave me a $20 bill. I effectively just paid to watch his kid. FML

$20 for 10 hours is stupid. Why were you even willing to do something without knowing how much you'll get out of it?

seems unrealistic. you watched some kid for 10 hours and only 20 bucks? my friend watches her neighbors kids all the time for under or over 10 hours and gets like 40 or 50.

#53, I've seen several ads on the local CraigsList lately looking for someone to watch their kids over the summer for 40 hours a week for $50-125 a week. How ****** up is that.

2 dollars an hour? seriously? babysitting should atleast be ten dollars. minimum is 8 dollars, and youre not doing a minimum wage job

1) I think you exaggerated how little the parent gave you. No person in their right mind would pay a babysitter $20 for ten hours of service, but either way you should have negotiated first. 2)If the parent wanted you to order pizza, the parent would have told you. You were to cook something and you can't use the fact that the kid didn't want to eat it as an excuse because anyone with experience knows that kids know what they can get away with and that they'll try it if there's a chance it'll work. Plus, I doubt the kid ate $19 worth of pizza anyways.

Oh I got about that, maybe a little more, when I was babysitting not one, but three or four little hellraisers. Initially, anyway. The wife found out how little her husband paid me and doubled it.

what a shady guy... my neighbor gave me $20 just for watching his kid for an hour. you should have complained and let the child starve.

something like that has happened to me before. for an entire summer, i watched two kids from 9-5 five days a week for $100 a week. they were a family friend, so i did them a favor, but it was basically hell since they were the worst behaved kids i've ever seen.

#51, the difference between .002 cents and .002 dollars? You need to review your math as well.
