I'm not sure why people keep saying lice don't like dirty hair. Lice aren't picky, they have no preference. Lice are equal opportunity parasites, not washing your hair won't keep them away.

Having dirty hair increases the oils in the hair. It is harder for the lice to attach itself to greasy strains.

Lice are massively gross, but it's no indication of how clean you are or whether you look after yourself. Most children will pick them up at school and they spread through families really quickly. Disgusting little b*stards
