Today, I learned my boyfriend has another girlfriend. His excuse is he's bipolar and each of his personalities needs a girlfriend. FML

But the point is, they are both still Jake. Just two sides of the same coin. If it was someone with DID, then there wouldbe Jake, Ben, Vlad, Mary, etc. Depends on how many personalities there are. The OP's bf (hopefully ex) is an idiot. Period.

My mom and my bro are bipolar, and thats not what it means at all. Bipolar disorder basically means extreme moods (extremely happy, extremely angry, etc.) and rapid mood swings. Dump that asshole and find one who even has enough respect for you to know what he's bullshitting you about.

isn't that schizophrania or smthing like that. isn't bipolar when u get massive and very violent mood swing all of a sudden with a change in personality but not actually become a different person

Your boyfriend fails. If he's going to tell you that his "personalities need different girlfriends", he should get the disorder right: Multiple Personality Disorder. It's far different from bipolar disorder.

Thats messed up. I hope you don't believe him because thats shit. A disorder is a serious thing not a excuse for cheating on someone.. Besides thats not even the right disorder. Its actually multiple personailty disorder. And if he is making fun of bi polar then he needs to get a realty check. bi polar is serious. many members in my family have it and i have anxeity disorder. Tell him to stop blaming his problems on dis order. and for what its worth your better with out him.

and multiple personality disorder doesn't exist either and wouldn't be the right disease, as other's said, it's now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder. with that said, although you don't actually have two personalities when you're manic depressive (a.k.a. bipolar), you can feel as if you are two different people dependent upon which sort of episode he is having. is he most likely lying anyone, yes. but as someone who suffers from depression w/ manic episodes, i feel as if i'm a different person when having a manic episode.

he should kill himself for making a joke like that. my dads fried had a son who was bipolar and he committed suicide a week before his wedding. bipolar disorder isn't a funny joke
