Today, I learned that the house I've been living in and paying rent for the past two months was never advertised as vacant. I learned this when the actual homeowners walked in, and called the police for an "intruder." FML

Show them the lease you signed...that should clear things up

How did this even happen? :/ I hope you got it sorted OP and you have a place to live now.

Yep, these things happen and are more common than you think. Sometimes, the owners themselves are behind it. They have a friend/or a guy they know, they give him the keys and tell him they're leaving the house for x months. So basically the guy puts the house up for rent, most likely for a much cheaper price than normal to attract people, and finds some gullible person/persons who rents the house and pay everything without signing any legal documents. If it looks too good to be true, it's because it usually is OP.

Happens all the time now-a-days :/ so sad

Today wasn't as extreme no one died on my shoulder, i didn't get pissed i'm still 18, single and never kissed a guy, unemployed yep the life ... FML

I don't think it is really much of a plot twist when that was what was kind of implied in the original FML

I bet a friend of theirs was trying to make some extra money. Maybe it was a poor joke on all parties.

This is one FML that really needs a follow up. Hope you're doing alright OP. :)

It could have gone worse Op, you are the victim of a serious crime, lodge a complaint and above all hope you have a safe and legitimate place now and the cops understand your situation!
