If you live with your mother as well you have to tell her this.. Thats complete bullshit of him to say. Regardless of whether or not you were adopted he has no right to say that to you. Step fathers can be major dicks, but if your mother won't back you up and punish the step father maybe you should try a different living situation? Sorry OP. FYL truly.

Even if he meant your birth parents he has no idea why they had to give you up, it could have been very painful for them! He just got burned and had no better come back so he took the easy stab at you. Ignore him op he just proved what a jerk he is!

This is wrong. If you're adopted, it frequently means your parents love you very much and CHOSE you out of the millions of others needing to be adopted... If my parents told me I was adopted, that would be a good thing! It would mean they chose me over anyone else. "You're a mistake, your parents never wanted you" is the insult... and if you're adopted, and your birth parents didn't want you, so what? Your adoptive parents do!

It was their STEP father so he had nothing to do with the adoption. And I think you'll find he was referring to the birth parents not loving op not the adoptive parents.
