Today, I moved in with my new roommate. She's a vegetarian, and won't let me put my meat in the fridge because it will "contaminate her food". FML

I can get how that would be problematic, but save up for a mini fridge instead then. It's her apartment and her fridge. Admittedly I sympathise with OP's roommate, I too would have problems with finding corpses in my fridge.

Why is it HER apartment? The OP is paying half the rent, therefore, half the apartment (and half the fridge) is the OP's.

she's the one not conforming to social norm so she Should compromise, if it was five meat eaters and a vegetarian in a student house; she would have to change.

How the hell did she think the whole non-vegetarian roommate thing was going to work? If you pay half the rent, you should get half the fridge. OP's roommate sounds like a freaking genius.

My vegetarian aunt used to say the same thing when it came to cooking meat at her house. IE: on Thanksgiving. It's not going to kill anybody for chrissakes!
