Today, I noticed a young child wandering out onto a busy street. I managed to grab his arm just as he stepped off the sidewalk and yank him away from almost certain death. My reward was his mother, who was on her cell phone the whole time, screaming at me for touching her child. FML

What i wanna know is, who in their right mind checked the 'you deserve it'?

And, lately, people who are frantically trying to get their "Judgemental" badge

Yes, but the major problem is the who in their right mind would click ydi on what is obviosly a pretty ****** up and/or really sad fml?

I get the feeling there are some people who click YDI no matter what the post actually said.

Sometimes while scrolling I accidentally hit the ydi button

Dumb lady wasn't even watching her kid

Another case of a over protective idiotic mother who thinks all men are pedophiles wanting to harm their children. If that was me , I would thank you sir.

Some people should be sterilized.

You should have screamed at her for being a shitty parent, and explained that if you hadn't grabbed her child, she probably wouldn't have one. Then again, by the sounds of it, she shouldn't have ever had children anyway.

WTF! THE OP DOESNT DESERVE THIS! STUPID MEDIA, AND IDIOTIC, IRRESPONSIBLE PARENTS

How is this the medias fault... The mpther wasnt paying attention so her child almost died.. She should pay attention

63 was saying that media made her believe that op was a creep trying to molest her child, it also makes her believe that she needs to always be on her phone for some reason or another, so really if she spent as much time that she does on the phone and watching tv that she spends watching her kid this wouldn't happen (damn that felt long)

(contunuation) seriously, not every guy is some shady predator with a van, abducting children and ******* them (sorry for being graphic ln that part), or fapping to kiddie ****, WAKE UP PARENTS OR FACE STERILETY (sp?) Honestly that bitch needs a good kick in the bloody ******* ****.

Don't blame the mother for her reaction, though do blame her for not paying attention to her child and being on the cellphone, that's just poor parenting. Her reaction however is societies fault, not hers, for leading us to believe any person being nice to young children was a creepy pedophile. When I was growing and around 11 I remember a nice couple of thirty somethings moving in on my block and all the kids used to go over to their house, play board games with them and invite them out to play football/baseball with us. Our parents knew them and were ok with it - They were just fun people who enjoyed making us happy and never did anything to hurt any of us. If that had happened today the second either one of them picked up a kid for an "exaggerated tackle" like used to be prevalent when adults used to play football with kids they would be called a pedophile. . It's a sad world a very very small minority of people has ruined for us.

You're throwing logical into an argument that I already agree with - I'm not saying the woman is right I'm just saying that society has a whole has become so terrified of pedophiles that they automatically assume any person that takes ANY interest in their child is a pedophile. It's the reason why when a 6 year old girl comes up to me at work [I teach karate] to give me a hug and say hi I have to be very careful about how I react.

You've got a good point there, 71. I think we swung from 1 extreme to the other as a society: from sweeping it under the rug & pretending it never happens to seeing predators everywhere. We need to find a middle ground somewhere.

Yes we do, but also understand that we don't know how this went down or what i looked like - While I think everybody agrees the parent should have been monitoring her child instead of being on the cellphone taking her distraction aside seeing somebody grab your kid can look pretty bad no matter what. I imagine simply saying "Ma'am your kid was about to walk into a crowded intersection and I wanted to spare that from happening, I apologize if I startled you" could have diffused the situation
