Today, I proudly gave my grandma a picture I had drawn for her. She didn't seem thrilled with it, and afterwards the rest of my family seemed upset. Nobody could fathom why I drew grandma a picture of a graveyard for her 85th birthday. It was suppose to be a bridge. FML

Today, my friend showed me a creepy piece of artwork he'd drawn. I laughed and said that it would give me nightmares, meaning it as a compliment. Turns out, this one was in honor of his dead grandmother, who'd raised him. FML

Today, when I visited my grandmother at her nursing home, I was looking at pictures she had of all the grandkids. All were normal graduation pictures etc. but mine was a cutout where she made me skinnier. FML

Today, my Nana showed me her new sign that says, "Some of my greatest blessings call me Nana." We stood there looking at a wall FULL of pictures of her grandkids, which is where she wanted to hang it. After scanning the wall a couple times, I realized. There was not one picture of me. FML

Today, I found out my deceased grandmother never liked anything that I bought for her. She would never say anything to not hurt my feelings. The only reason I bought those things in the first place was because growing up she told me that she liked them. Now that she's gone, I'm hearing what she really thought. FML

Today, I received a package at work. Thinking it was something I ordered, I opened it in front of my coworkers. It was a gift from my grandmother: a giant pink, “I Love My Grandson” T-shirt. The worst part? They insisted I put it on and take a picture to send to her. FML

I'm trying so hard, darling, and I just can't picture in my head how anyone could make out a graveyard from a bridge... Also...why would you draw your grandmother a bridge in the first place? It just seems like an odd drawing...unless she was an architect back in her day or something.

Such creative people here. Maybe the bridge was from a place that they used to go that OP was trying to draw. And homemade gifts are always better than just a store-bought card. They take a lot more effort and thought to make than going out and just buying some cheesy $3 card. I think it was a real shame that it was misinterpreted. I suppose I could see how it could be if OP textured a certain way. Nonetheless, that really sucks. I hope you explained what it really was, OP.

That would have been a great thought, I agree with you. However, neither the grandma nor the rest of the family saw the bridge for what it was. Old people don't take failure very well.
