Today, I quit smoking. My son came home with an ashtray he made in arts and crafts class. FML

This means that it will forever look just like the day he brought it home. Never tarnished with ashes. In a few months he will be bragging to his friends about it.

To which I hope you said, "Thank you very much, it's lovely." And then used it for a candy dish. Don't break the little buggers heart because you finally gave up a bad habit.

You can always use it as something else :) When my aunt quit she used her ashtrays as a place to put her keys

I wouldn't waste your breath on this one, Doc.

Your kid is very sweet making you a gift :3 next time though keep your kid in the loop so the son makes you stuff that won't guilt you or tempt you to fall off the quit wagon.

It's the thought that counts! Use it for candy!

Just let your son know that you appreciate what he made for you but let him know that you quit smoking but that you could use it for a million other things .. Make him feel appreciated

Hold on to it, and when your son starts smoking, give it to him

Keep the ashtray as a motivation to quit because then it will remind you that if and when you do quit smoking (which hopefully you do cause in my opinion I don't like smoking) then you can remember that you can spend more time with your kid(s) and maybe even some grandchildren of yours! Ya never know :)
