In the past it used to be possible. Nowadays viruses are standalone programs, but the original viruses would insert themselves into legitimate executables, so your program could "get a virus". It doesn't happen any more as viruses tend to be completely standalone. That being said, it is unlikely that their antivirus is infected with a virus because viruses don't do that any more. More than likely they either have a virus it isn't catching, or they downloaded a "free antivirus" that wasn't really an antivirus.

Nuh uh. I just had to restore my entire system because I got a virus that attached itself to Norton. It stops the internet from working on browsers and other programs even if it says it's connected. Apparently it's going around at the moment.

Is that what happened? My old desktop wouldn't allow me to enter the Internet and things started downloading onto my computer no matter how many times I deleted them and that I couldn't access the Internet. Those downloaded things were bad things... Too grown up for my 14 year old eyes!!! D: Don't know where I got the virus from though. There were **** stuff and the only thing I used that computer was for YouTube and neopets and I had a password. Unless there was a pop up I accidentally clicked?

what? what's your problem with macs? probably, you've never used one, and have no idea how it works, so you automatically assume it's gay. MacBooks are great machines, and run faster than a normal HP. plus, if you change the OS to Linux (of some sort), the machine will run faster. the only downside to Linux is that to do things more advanced than opening Google Chrome, such as Java Dev, you need to know how to use terminal.

There are two reasons to get a Mac: 1). You're into graphic design/editing 2). You're a programmer who needs Unix Everyone else who got a mac to check facebook wasted at least $4 or $5 hundred dollars because they're too lazy/incompetent to install antivirus software you can get for free.
