Today, I returned home to find that my boyfriend's dog had gotten into the garbage and ripped all my used pads to shreds. There's a trail of Always tatters leading to his dog bed, and blood everywhere. My blood. Oh God. FML

My dog has swallowed whole used tampons and then a day later... poops them out. I have to keep the bathroom trash secure. She likes used kleenex too. Dogs are so gross.

Isn't there a risk of the dog choking on the tampon? You might want to keep a closer eye on her...

She hasn't gotten to one in a few years but the few times she did, didn't have any problems. I've been careful to not let her anywhere near the trash. Imagine explaining that one to a Vet.

Stupid comment for two reasons: Using tampons would not change the fact that the dog smelled her blood in the trash can, and also, pads are MUCH healthier than tampons. To the OP: Someone I know used to have this problem with her dogs - the best solution is just to make sure you always leave the bathroom door closed so the dog can't go in.

You should use a Keeper or MoonCup or washable, reusable pads.

My dog does the same thing. Worse, my brothers have girl friends over and they don't know the dog will do that, so they leave their used shit in the bathroom trashcan for the dog to get. Guess who gets to clean that up?
