Today, I sampled some of the food my fiancée's mom is making for our wedding. Everything tasted terrible, and I almost vomited. Turns out she never actually went to culinary school as she claimed, but had just watched Julie and Julia. It's too late to book another caterer for the wedding. FML

F your fiancée's life for having to grow up on her terrible cooking.

Julie and Julia is the equivalent to culinary school, didn't you hear?

Why wouldn't you sample her BEFORE you book?

Then this FML would never exist and we would never have the opportunity to laugh at this OP.

Why wouldnt the husband say that she never really went to culinary school? Even if she went before he was born, he still knew her food is nasty. Hope you can find a flexible caterer!

There are plenty of people currently in culinary school. Hit up a local college and sample the food of a current student. Someone in school (who can actually cook) would probably be eager to book their first job and I'm sure they wouldn't be pricey. Look at the positives....

That's actually a really good idea. Like when you go to students for cheap dentistry. It's a discount and most of the time it's fine

If you live near west chester pa I know a great inexpensive last min caterer.... Www.cateringbyjamie.com

Have you never had a meal at your future mother-in-laws house? I just find it weird that you would let her cook for your wedding if you've never had any of her food before. If you can't get a caterer, maybe order from a restaurant instead. Find one that delivers if possible. It might be a pain, or more expensive if you have a lot of people coming, but at least no one will throw up.

That sucks. Maybe you should try Something like that, but instead of Julie and Julia, watch a Paula Dean episode. FYL

It doesn't matter -- grooms don't eat very much at the wedding anyways. Of course, you do run the risk of your guests staging an open revolt if the food is that *lowers sunglasses* revolting.

Every FML needs its own Horatio moment.

How did your fiancé not know this??

Maybe she was just too used to the cooking to know it was terrible?

Come on, get creative. You could hold a potluck, where everybody cooks and brings in their favorite food. Or hold a competition to see which of your guests is the best chef, and pay him/her to cook for everyone.

I agree. She could also do a drawing for a couple of $25 gift cards to encourage people to bring dishes.
