I hold no delusions that would make me believe that the op wasn't, atleast a little bit, trying to pick the girl up. I mean be honest here, do you people really think that he wasn't trying to pick up the girl atleat to some degree. Having said that the boyfriends reaction was totally uncalled for even if he didn't understand the situation. I could understand if he told him to beat it and maybe shoved him a little (I'd just tell him to get lost), but breaking his arm, thats just an over reaction from an insecure man.

You may have done an extra good deed by helping this girl realise that boyfriend is a psycho. I mean, he saw a random guy with their arm round his girlfriend so yeah he might have been pissed off, but he broke your arm so quickly that neither you or she had time to explain what actually happened? That's just messed up.

@105 - I pity any girl who dates you. Seriously. Even if there was a guy trying to pick up your girlfriend, watch the situation. Does she explain she has a boyfriend? If so, does he back off? If not THEN you might have a situation. If she doesn't tell him she has a boyfriend, you might have a problem with HER, but then just go up to him and use WORDS first. Anybody who resorts to violence first is an IDIOT and will probably end up in jail for assault and will deserve it.

I just saw UncleverName_FYL's next post, and I have more to say to that and it's too late to edit my last comment... In that sort of situation, YEAH, it's a bit awkward for the girl, but it's better than some drunk idiot hitting on you. If an arm around you is all he's doing and he takes it off as soon as the idiot leaves, that is PERFECTLY acceptable. He doesn't deserve a broken arm. At least let him explain. If I was dating you and you hurt some poor guy that was just trying to help, your ass would be dumped in a SECOND.
