Today, I slipped on the new snow and sprained my ankle. As my mom and I were leaving the emergency room, she says, "You owe me $4 for parking," and she meant it. FML

Seriously? She can't drop four bucks on you, after you've been injured, no less? Your mom is one stingy-ass bitch.

Just shut up and pay the parking fee. It's not like you cant pay it off. Just remember this when she breaks a hip and tell her shes paying the parking fee. .__.

I don't think the OP is saying FML over having to pay the $4... I think it's about having such a cheap ass bitch for a mother

Wrap it up and give it to her for Christmas.

Haha i like wat this person said :D

To those of you going on and on about how OP's a wuss for going to the ER for a sprained ankle, you need to consider that it could have been such a severe and painful sprain that she wanted to be sure it wasn't broken. Sometimes sprains can be just as bad or even worse than fractures. If you break a bone, or tear a ligament/tendon and don't get medical attention right away, permanent damage could be done. I know this from personal experience: in 6th grade I fell off a wall and landed on my ankle weird. My parents told me "it's just a sprain, you'll be fine" and didn't take me to the doctor until a week had passed. Turns out it was broken AND sprained, and the wait meant that the fracture had healed wrong. Now I'm 19 and have arthritis in my ankle because I didn't get medical attention in time. I agree that posting an FML about a mere $4 is kind of overreacting, but maybe the point was the mom's lack of sympathy in the situation. Like, the OP perceived it as being a kind of slap in the face: "I don't care that you sprained your ankle, now pay me for parking". I say this is neither an FML or a YDI. It's more of a YOR (You Over-Reacted).

You win. It's not that OP has to pay the money, it's the lack of sympathy.

You went to the ER for a sprained ankle?! You deserve to pay that $4 for parking because your mom is going to get a huge bill from the hospital with something you could have easily sucked up and stayed off of for a few hours and probably would have felt much better. grow up

What if OP is over 18/pays her own medical bills. So OP is stuck paying whatever. ER fee, plus seeing the doctor, plus whatever pain meds they may or may not have given (which are usually more expensive at the hospital) plus who knows what else. I can't say that I'd really like for my mom to give me a hard time about money right afterward, when I'm probably already stressing about the $1000+ I have to pay.
