Today, I thought I would be cute for my 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend so I cooked a three course meal for her with candles and rose petals on the floor. She loved the dinner, except now she's passed out in a food coma upstairs while I'm left with the dishes. FML

You're a good guy OP, I'm sure she'll thank you when she wakes up. Good things come to those who wait ;)

It occurs when a large meal is eaten. The body diverts blood flow more to the digestive system to help digest the food, and away from things like exercise and muscle exertion, causing fatigue. Also hormonal changes due things like Glucose play a role as well.

That's really sweet! Take it as a compliment and I'm sure she'll be really happy when she wakes up

simply put, eating lots of food makes you feel tired :)

Cooks and cleans? You deserve a gold star in boyfriend material. Sorry your night didn't work as planned since you seemed to put great effort into the date.

Don't worry. Look beyond scoring for an evening, and you will see that you just racked up some romance points. Girls don't just remember the dumb shit dudes pull. We remember the cute moments, too, and they build up. :)

Did you expect her to do the dishes?? YDI for cooking

Why would that be unreasonable? My BF and I normally cook together and then we keep each other company while the person in charge that time does the dishes.

Well if it was for a special occasion then yeah, it was pretty unreasonable to assume that she would clean up after. It ruins the romance completely. As a normal daily routine sharing chores is a good thing (I cook and my husband cleans up the dishes) but if I made him a special meal just for him, I would not expect him to clean it up too!

I think op was expecting "I surprised her with a meal. Now we are going to clean the dishes together." That, or He cooks, she cleans. That would be a fair arrangement for me.

Or he just expected her to spend time with him instead of leaving him by himself to go sleep.

That is so cute! She's a lucky girl for having you :)
