Thank you! Are we the only people here with this mindset? There are studies that show that spanking is a BAD IDEA... and PLENTY of alternative discipline ideas. But god forbid parents should have to work at parenting. Modeling appropriate behavior for their children is just too hard I guess. I guess it's just not important to put some time and attention toward teaching a child to be responsible, respectful and kind while you allow them to be children. My two year old thrives on respectful parenting, and everyone always wonders why she's polite and responsive, and intelligent. It's something you have to commit to, but it makes for gentle and self-assured children. Instead, we should just hit them? What kind of a child does that create?

Lets find out shall we?,, My son is 15, 10th grade, carried 4.0+ since starting school. He is in all honors, took the ACT given at Duke U and scored a 29 ( when he was 13). Was told he could enter college then and would prob maintain a 3.75 or higher. He is also in a program that will earn him a 2 yr degree by the time he leaves HS................He is respectful, Yes Sir ,Maam,,,,eager to help,, happy,healthy and very physically fit. He has been spanked since he was in diapers backed up with positive reinforcement . Ask me what kind of child spanking will produce?? I say a pretty damn good one!! Good luck with those time outs. They might work until they tell you to FO and you have nothing to back yourself up with as they walk out of the house to do their own thing..
