Today, I told my daughter that she wasn't allowed to eat in her room, so she sat at the table and glared at me for 10 minutes while she ate. She's 15. FML

I never had to eat with my family during routine meals... I'm now long past being a teen, and I still do not understand why some families insist upon watching and listening one another chew on things... (For interaction, there are other, much better times. I personally was taught it is not polite to chew and talk.)

Or perhaps she simply does not like being stared at by another person who is chewing.

I've never been allowed food or drinks (other than water) in my room because ants. And crocodiles.

She lives in YOUR house. If she can't eat with the family and be respectful she's free to go hungry.

As a 17 yr old, I get this. I like to eat in my room while I do my homework or have so quiet time. My family has "family dinner" Monday thru Thursday and we all sit at the table for at least a half an hour and eat and talk! Works best for me and my 14 yr old sis

If that were me I'd be slapped for staring

Well i eat in my room because i usually eat at a different time then everyone because im extremely picky making it so i have to make my meals my point is make her make her own food

Maybe try to figure out why your daughter doesn't want to spend time with you.

My family never eats together and let's me eat in my room but we sit together every now and then to talk and watch a movie. I think and my parents think it's a great system. It just depends on the family

She has a point. Sometimes teens need their space
